Competition Update & Round 2 Draw

With 'Furlie Fools' banking 4 easy points from a bye, giving every team at least a guaranteed 4 points at the end of the season, the main action saw...

  • Pie Munchers defeated Drive for Show Putt for Dough 101 to 93.
  • No Nolan defeated The Double D's 115 to 108.
  • Livin on the Edge narrowly defeated The Sandbaggers 104 to 102.
  • Furlie Fools automatically received 4 points.

After Round 1, Pie Munchers sit on top of the ladder with 108.6%. Great start to the season!

Round 2 will take place on Saturday, July 20th, due to the Amstel Shield this weekend.

July Medal Winners

A reminder to any new members that during the first main competition days of the month, we run our monthly medal competition. Winners receive the privilege for the month (on the day of their win) to use the medal winner car park. 

On Sundays, this spot is shared between the Men's and Women's winners for the month. Medal Winners have the choice of medal day glassware or a metallic coffee cup memento. Please see the Pro Shop for the choices! 

Lastly, in May of every year, all medal winners are invited to play in the Medal of Medalists held on the winning day of their respective win.

Callaway Fitting Day

Should you miss out on the booking you're after, Ranfurlie Golf Academy also have a Callaway fitting kit at their disposal with state of the art technology including Trackman to give you the most accurate fitting possible.


Amstel Shield - This Saturday 13th July

Please note that on Saturday next week, the entire Saturday field will be playing 4BBB Par. There will be a daily 4BBB Par club competition event. Additionally, for full members who have been members for more than 3 months, there will be an extra tick box available for the Amstel Shield pairs event. Please ensure that pairs entering this event are available for the following two weeks, as participation is required during this period. Avoid entering if you are unavailable for either of the two weeks following the event.

This Amstel Shield will be the first event where the entire field can use the Mi Score App system. Please ensure that full groups are either using the manual scorecard or all using the Mi Score App to facilitate smoother entry. make sure to make your bookings with your paring in the group. And please see conditions of play for a detailed description of the Amstel Shield. Also a run through of the Mi Score app scoring 4BBB events.

GPL Entrants: Please note Round 2 of the GPL season will be held on Saturday 20th July due to this 4BBB event.

4BBB Using the Mi Score App

The online Mi Score System can be used as another option from the manual cards and entry system. This comes with certain requirements that must be followed.

  • If you happen to be in a group of 3, the low marker in the group is automatically set as the swinger, this can not be changed by staff.
  • If you are a group of 3, all 3 players must either be on the app or all used the printed card. The system does not recognise a mix of both.
  • If in a group of 4, Cell 1 & 2 and 3 & 4 are automatically matched, however within the app the arrangement can be changed if traditionally balls are thrown up to determine partners. At the end when entering scores, this is why you will see all 4 names to verify your partners, to finally confirm before submitting. 

The Pro Shop staff are here to help, so please let them know if you need any guidance on these 4BBB Days.

Weekend Bookings Slow Play 

Due to the current limited daylight hours, we kindly ask everyone to keep pace with the group in front of them. If you find yourself falling behind, please allow the group behind you to play through. We all have off days, but it's crucial to keep moving to ensure the last groups can finish before dark.

Let's all make a concerted effort to get through the turn on time

3.30pm bookings and early afternoon walk In's

Members who book tee times from 3:30 PM onwards or simply just walk up around 2- 2.30pm onwards, are reminded of the following rules:

  1. Respecting Pro Shop Staff: Members are reminded not to pressure pro shop staff to allow them to start earlier if they see a gap in the schedule. The flow of the game is carefully managed, and any deviations can disrupt the entire field.

  2. No Jumping Ahead: This also applies to members who arrive early and attempt to start before their scheduled 3:30 PM tee time. Arriving early does not guarantee an early start, and members must adhere to their booked times.

  3. Disciplinary Measures: Members who are found regularly hassling pro shop staff to start earlier than their booked tee time may face disciplinary measures. It is crucial to maintain a respectful and orderly environment for all members and staff.

By following these guidelines, we can ensure an enjoyable and smooth golfing experience for everyone. Thank you for your cooperation.

Fellow Member - Long Driving in Mexico

While we have all been freezing in Melbourne, Stefan Scutti has been competing in the Ultimate Long Drive contest in Leon, Mexico, late last month. For his efforts, Steffan won 3 set and lost 2 in the match double elimination finishing in the top 6 (Tied for 5th). Steffan was eventually knocked out by 22 year old power house Owen Meads who went on to win the championship easily. Steffan plans to go back next year to have another crack.

Well Done Steffan flying the Ranfurlie flag world wide.

Current Members may lodge a written objection to any application, addressed to the Golf Services Manager, Andrew Bourne abourne@ranfurlie.com.au

Such objections shall be considered by the Board, whose decision shall be final.

Please note members on Monthly direct debits, now have just 7 days after their payment defaults to fixup their missing payment before having their membership suspended. Members in this situation can reactivate their account at any time by paying either online, or at the Ranfurlie Pro Shop or Sports Bar tills.

If you have new payment details to update, or you are having financial difficulty please contact membership early to assist at.

Also if anyone is having trouble updating their emergency contact details, please email Renae with the details and she will be able to update the system for you. 

We also ask any members that have a fitted pacemaker device to please also contact Renae in Membership to create a list in the event of a Defibrillator required.
